Harlem’s Home for Soul Food and Family

For more than 60 years, Sylvia’s Restaurant has been serving up more than just food. We’ve been serving love, legacy, and Harlem hospitality.

When Sylvia Woods opened her restaurant on Lenox Avenue in 1962, she couldn’t have imagined that her fried chicken and collard greens would draw guests from all over the world. What started with a handful of tables and a whole lot of heart quickly became the heartbeat of Harlem - a gathering place for families, friends, leaders, and legends.

Walk about 30 minutes to enjoy the iconic restaurant of Harlem. It's definitely worth the walk. The host and waitress were all very attentive and kindhearted. The cornbread was one of the best I've ever tasted. The fried chicken and waffles were also very impressive. I would love to visit again.

I got the Fried Chicken meal, it came with two sides I got Mac n Cheese and Yams. I also ordered a side of potato salad and they gave complimentary cornbread. Everything was 10/10 the flavor was amazing, food was quick, service was efficient, plenty of space, felt welcomed and not rushed. Highly recommend!

I have been hearing about this place my whole life. Finally made it to Harlem so I had to try it out. They did not disappoint. A Reservation was helpful, they also have a to-go window. I had to get black eyed peas for New Years day I'm thankful for that. The food was great and my chicken was fried to perfection.

This one was on my bucket list since I saw it on Conan—and oh man, it did not disappoint. The smothered chicken and collard green rice were full-on spiritual experiences. Cozy joint, subway-adjacent, and the hospitality? Southern grandma levels of care. Please, Sylvia's, expand to India. We're waiting.
